What you can expect from the band at your wedding
|
| Wedding bands and musicians will make every effort to accomodate
your needs on your wedding day.
Many Wedding Bands Can and Will:
| • |
Announce the members of your wedding party as they
enter the reception and make general announcements. |
| • |
Provide recorded music while on breaks so the party
never stops. The music can be CDs that either you or
the band provide. (This may not apply to smaller acoustic
or jazz and swing bands - inquire about your specific
band with your agent) |
| • |
Take requests from their repertoire prior to the reception,
and will accommodate as many of your requests as they
can during the performance. |
| • |
Learn one song as a special request for each reception,
i.e. for a first dance (given 60 days notice within
a reasonable music style). They can also play the requested
song though the sound system on CD by the original artist. |
| • |
Provide a state-of-the-art professional sound system
to ensure clear sound at an acceptable volume. |
| • |
Always present and conduct themselves professionally. |
| • |
Work with YOU and your wedding coordinator or wedding
planner to ensure a smooth flow to your reception and
will help to solve any problems that may arise to make
your reception a complete success! |
(Please confirm with your agent about the specific capabilities
and procedures of your individual band)
|
|
Performance Area, Playing Time, and Band Setup:
|
| Dance bands typically need a stage, performance area
or floor space of approximately 20’x12’, but
that is not a hard and fast rule as some bands may take
up more or less room. Jazz or acoustic trios or quartets
may be able to fit in a space 16'x12' or smaller, while
a larger 10 or 12 piece dance bands may need 24'x16' or
larger. The band will try to make it work for you and your
reception location, but please discuss any unusual stage/area
constraints with your agent prior to booking. Bands will
generally take a few short breaks in a 3 to 4 hour event,
but they are happy to schedule breaks to accommodate the
natural flow of your reception (cutting your cake or taking
pictures). They want to play as much music as possible!
Also, some bands typically need access to the stage area
to set up 2 to 3 hours prior to a performance, and it often
takes 1 to 2 hours to break down their equipment after they
play (this may vary depending on the size and style of your
band). |
